Barbara Wasmus is a senior SME/Microfinance banker with over 15 years of experience in developing markets and countries in transition. As a Partner and MSME finance consultant at Wasmus Consulting, she has implemented various short-term consultancy assignments for financial institutions, funds and donors in Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Previously, Barbara held senior executive positions in financial institutions such as founding-CEO of ProCredit Bank Angola, deputy-CEO of ProCredit Bank Kosovo as well as served as Senior Investment Officer at Triple Jump. In addition to her consulting work, Barbara is also a member of the Credit Committee of Developing World Markets in the US.
Barbara is passionate about the design and implementation of effective operational and internal control systems in the context of green fields, turnarounds, and major technological innovations in banks and MFIs. She is a Certified Expert in Risk Management from the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management and holds a master’s of arts degree in international relations from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands.
